Sheremetyevo International Airport

Sheremetyevo International Airport is one of four international airports with the Moscow area, and the largest in Russia. The airport is located 35km from central Moscow, and 37km from the football stadium hosting numerous FIFA 2018 matches. Sheremetyevo Airport opened in 1957, originally designated as a military airfield. In 1960 it was converted for civilian use, and today sees more that 34 thousand passengers pass through its terminals annually. The airport has two runways, and it is capable of handling a wide variety of aircraft types, varying from regional jets to large wide-bodied aircraft.

There are four terminals located at the airport, with the newest terminal (Terminal A) opening in 2012. The new terminal is designed for private and business aviation, ensuring maximum comfort and efficiency. The private terminal has dedicated check-in, security and duty free store. The other passenger terminals (Terminals D,E, & F) comprise of arrivals and departure zones, both featuring a good selection of shops, restaurants, and bars. The main terminals also feature premium business lounges for VIP passengers to enjoy whilst waiting for their departing flights, and those accessing the lounges can take advantage of fast track security and dedicated check-in. The three main terminals are all connected via pedestrian walkways with travellators. The airport is well connected by road and rail, with the Aeroexpress connecting the airport to downtown Moscow.

It is important to stress that slots at Sheremetyevo International Airport are controlled and restricted, however the airport operates 24 hour a day. Staff at the airport, including ground crews, speak English.
