Also known as King Hussein Airport, Aqaba Airport, was constructed in the late 1960s, starting life with a single runway, a small passenger terminal building, fire station and a small parking apron. Since then, the airport grounds have undergone major renovation to include multiple runways, taxiways and aprons with facilities to accommodate cargo. The airport itself boasts a range of duty free shops, banks and lounge services.
