KURUMOCH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Kurumoch International Airport is located approximately 35km north of the city it serves, Samara. The airport was constructed in 1957, with it initially being purposed for cargo and military practice. In 1961 the airport saw its first commercial flight depart and since then the airport has grown rapidly in popularity. Today it sees in excess of one million passengers a year. Kurumoch International Airport is served by a large number of commercial airlines, mainly flying to domestic destinations. However a number of airlines operate flights to international destinations such as Phuket in Thailand, and Istanbul in Turkey. The airport has a total of two runways, which are capable of receiving a majority modern day airliners. For passengers, there is a main terminal with both domestic and international departure gates. While passengers wait, they will find a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars within the terminal. For VIP travellers there are business lounges located within the domestic and international departure areas. The airport is easily accessible from both the cities of Samara and Togliatti, with regular shuttle buses running between the airport and the cities. Taxi services are also available from the airport. The airport is due to go through a second phase of upgrades in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, for which Samara is the official host city. The stadium is located just over 40km from the airport.

It’s important to note that slots are controlled at this airport, and ground staff speak only in the local language. The airport operates 24 hours a day.
