DESTINATION GUIDE
Chubu Centrair International Airport
Chubu Centrair International Airport is the main gateway into the central region of Japan. It serves the city of Nagoya, the third largest city in Japan. The airport is one of five airports in Japan to be constructed off-shore, and one of two to be built on a manmade island. Chubu Centrair International Airport has a single terminal which is shaped like the letter “T”. It is split into a norther and southern side, with the northern side for domestic flights and the southern part for international flights. There are plans to construct a new terminal, specifically for low-cost carriers – due to open in 2019. There is a single runway, and aircraft have a clear approach, owing to the airports off-shore location. The airport is designed to receive most aircraft types. The airport is well connected, with the most convenient method of transport being the Nagoya Railroad, which connects the airport and central Nagoya. The fourth floor of Chubu Centrair International Airport is home to the Sky Town Shopping Centre, which is also open to the general public.
